Bonefish #3

Bonefish, recognized for their amazing speed, are the third and final member of the ‘Flats Grand Slam’, along with Tarpon and Permit. On a flyrod a bonefish can make a 40-to-50-yard run in a four count. They are nicknamed ‘Grey Ghosts’ because of their ability to suddenly appear and disappear on the flats where they feed.

This fish looks shocked at the view of the long-haired old guy taking his photograph. He was released and disappeared, as all ghosts should. The water color in this piece highlights the clarity and beauty of the flats.

This print, like the Tarpon and Permit, make amazing, oversized canvases. My living room has one of each, each measuring 38×44. They, along with the rug, really pull the room together.
