Cancer #2

‘Cancer #2’ is very personal in that it conveys my view of cancer. Most people describe this photo as ‘scary’. The photo, like cancer, is difficult to understand and because of that facilitates fear. In fact the photo is simply a koi in a pond, with water plants reflected in the water surface. The photo is slightly out of focus, and the koi is in motion, and without color. Once you understand it a portion but not all, of the scariness goes away, again like cancer, I had a print of Cancer #2 stuck in a frame above my desk. Cancer was literally hanging over my head. By talking to it, I tried to reason with the disease. Negotiations continue.
