Times Beach – Dancing Trees
Closing out the Black and White Collection are two taken at the remains of the infamous town of Times Beach. Both are of oak trees highlighted by winter fog. The first, ‘Dancing Trees’ is one two trees, with the one on the right appearing to dip as if dancing with the left tree. Obviously trees don’t dance and the effect is based on competition for resources, in this case sunlight. Competition is a strong force in both nature and in manmade politics. In both appearance and cause are often disguised. The second ‘Mourning a Friend’, is another anthropomorphic treatment of two trees, one dead, one alive, standing side by side.
