Skimmers on the Wing

Black Skimmers are another great seabird! Night feeders who catch bait fish by dropping their lower bill into the water while flying ‘skimming’ the surface. This photograph, taken at Bush Key some 60 miles west of Key West in the Dry Tortugas, captures both the beauty of skimmers in flight along with the dynamic colors of the tropical waters they call home.
